One month down

Wow. What a month it has been. A very hard month too. We have survived mastitis and a cold for most of us in the house. This kid eats like he's never been fed before. We go to the doctor later this week for a check up and to be weighed. At his two week check he was 8 pounds 12 ounces which is more than his birth weight.

I was trying to get a nice picture of the two of them and this is what I got.

Here's a comparison of Hudson at one month and Abby at one month. Stick a bow on him and you would think it's the same kid. He also has baby acne just like her too.

He is not the best sleeper as he is always hungry. We are up about every hour and fifty minutes.

Hudson

We checked into the hospital at 5:00pm on April 28th.  Hudson was born at 8:56 am on April 29th.  Yes, that means I labored all night long with no sleep.  Sweet way to go into the newborn days of no sleep.  He was 8 pounds, 9 ounces and 21 inches long.

Big sister was very excited to meet him.  She has been a good big sister so far.  She wants to hug and kiss him all day long.

We have had our ups and downs in the last ten days but, I guess, it should smooth out soon.  We had to take him to a ENT to get his tongue tie clipped in his first 4 days.  He's also an avid pooper.  Some nights of sleep are better than others.  Here's hoping he figures out sleep earlier than his sister.

Due Date

How far along: 40 weeks, 2 days
Total Weight Gain/Loss: 30-ish
Maternity clothes: Yes, lots of dresses and yoga pants
Stretch marks: Still none and wanting to keep it that way from number 1
Sleep: I'm still struggling with bouts of insomnia.  I was up yesterday morning at 2:50 watching Netflix.
Best moment last week: It was scary but turning over control of my classroom and students.
Movement: He has slowed down some because there can't be much room left.
Food cravings: Reubens, Coke, Braum's
Gender: Boy
Labor signs: Normal stuff like Braxton-Hicks and other pains.
Belly button - in or out? Holding on strong and staying in but I'm getting a bit worried
What I miss: Beer and wine and getting to enjoy beer and wine at my leisure
What I am looking forward to: Flexibility and moving around with ease again.

Milestones: Surpassing my due date.  People seriously doubted my ability to do so.  Challenge accepted.  I also finished THREE Christmas stockings during my time pregnant, two for baby boy and one for his new Uncle.  I didn't think I would ever accomplish all that either.

Dad's photo skills were not on point Tuesday and the weather was bad so the lighting is off too.  The "nice face" pictures are REALLY bad so here is one of our silly ones.

April

We are just waiting around here. Lots of waiting but I'm not complaining. I know what lies ahead.

I worked prom a few weekends ago. It's great to see my first group of kids at FHS now all grown up. We always have a butt sketch artist and I thought it would be funny to have it done this year especially. I'm sure my butt is so not that small at 38 weeks.

Abby had show-and-tell at school lately. Her first time ever. She chose to bring her Tinkerbell costume.

My last week of school was this week. I had a great group of really sweet kids last year. They made me a big poster and brought donuts one morning as a little shower. I currently have none of them in class which is so awesome of them to care still.

A group of girls in my class currently brought some decorations and food in this week too. It was super cute.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 30-ish
Maternity clothes: Yes, lots of dresses and yoga pants
Stretch marks: Still none and wanting to keep it that way from number 1
Sleep: Oh, sleep... I have been hit with insomnia this week.  I have been up way before the sun watching Netflix while everyone else sleeps lately.
Best moment last week: Another week down, one week to go teaching.  We also had another sonogram this week and saw his chubby cheeks.  He's estimated to be 7 pounds, 13 ounces currently.
Movement: Fairly often especially when I go to bed
Food cravings: Reubens, Coke
Gender: Boy
Labor signs: Braxton- Hicks and just pressure when I stand too long.  Nothing has been changing when I go to the doctor and I'm ok with that.

Daddy took Abby to the store and gave in on buying some fancy dress up shoes...

Our silly faces.

What's going on

Time has just been flying by lately. This little girl is getting older by the day. She can take herself to the potty and only wears diapers at night.

She prefers to stay in her pjs all day long. We can't get her to change some days.

I pulled out our Easter stuff last weekend. Big mistake getting out the eggs. They are all over the house and we argue about playing with her good Easter basket.

Brother's room is about done. It's painted and the letters have been made less girly. We have a couple of pictures up and I've washed a bunch of stuff.

We will be enjoying our time off this week before we head to Austin for Auntie's wedding.

This picture is about a month old but pretty funny. The kids in Child Development have to wear sympathy bellies. One of my seniors stopped by to complain. He said he knew my room would be cool and he was dying of heat.

February 2016

G has been working on making the nursery less pink lately. We also had to fix up places of the ceiling from nail pops when the roof was redone this summer.

Big sister had to be in the middle of things, of course. She wanted to help paint. He painted the top yellow last weekend and we just had to paint the bottom half this weekend. It's very different than the uber girl look I loved and was used to.

I went to a pumping class (which was of no help but oh well) while Abby was napping.  We took the pictures when I got home so she wasn't in them. I'm actually closer to 29 weeks than 28 but whatever. I passed my blood glucose screen but need to be on extra iron. No real shock there. Abby and I both battle our anemia.

We are in the process of repainting the nursery from pinks to blue and yellow.  I'm also in the process of sorting through piles and piles of girl clothes to see what can be reused.  We have the bedding, we have some clothes, we have the car seat.  I'm thinking we should be pretty prepared. #secondchild

January 2016

We are back to school and back in our routine after the holidays.

Abby just moved into her big girl room and bed this past weekend.  She did great with her transition. Only she puked all over her new bed and sheets a few days after the move.

She still loves to play with her Disney princess dolls.  It's all princess, all the time around here.

I am getting bigger and bigger by the day.  It's getting harder to get up off the floor and get around to chase after Abby.

We are about to start repainting the nursery in a more masculine color scheme.  Then I get to sort through all of the baby stuff we have to see what won't be able to be used again.  Oh, the pink we have!  I only have 13 more weeks of school but who's counting?
