20 on 20

This past Wednesday I hit the 20 week mark. I am half way through this process. We took some pictures this morning. You'll have to excuse the pregnancy acne. Nothing like having a face full of zits worse than when you were a teenager.  G prefers this shot.

We finally picked and bought bedding last night.  It's pretty girly but not too much.  I did not buy the bumpers as they are linked with all kinds of bad lately.  I also figured that we wouldn't use the matching crib blanket for anything other than decoration so that seemed dumb to buy as well.  I did get the pillow to put on our chair so it will coordinate.  We are in talks of what colors to paint the walls.  Two shades of pink or pink and another color. 

I don't think I ever fully announced on here that the baby will be a girl.  I am assuming that the people who read this were already told.  Here's the most recent sonogram photo of her.  The straight on picture of her face is a little scary.

 The sonogram technician told us that her femur bones (upper leg) were long.  I was a big baby at 9 pounds, 21 inches when I was born so I wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't a big one herself.  We go back to the doctor in early March. Then we will be off to San Diego to get some better weather and GO TO THE ZOO!

It needs a place to sleep?

We finally decided a few weeks ago what crib to go with after some thought.  We are not white wood people so it will be a dark wood crib and dresser.

We bought the dresser and hutch that match the crib.  While we were at it we got a chair that rocks and will recline.  I never thought I would purchase anything that reclines but I figure I may be kicking myself at 3am when I didn't have a chair that laid back.

I think I am close to purchasing some bedding but I am too unsure to pull the trigger on it.  I really dislike most of the bedding you see at places like Babies R Us.  I'm not a Winnie the Pooh type person.  The bedding will most likely be a pink pattern that doesn't scream infant.  G will also be adding some trim work to the room before we do any real decorating.  He has some time as the furniture won't be in until the end of April.  We still don't have much in the way of stuff for this one.  I guess that comes with time and showers.


I am still feeling just fat.  My kids at school will comment on how I am getting bigger (thanks kids) but adults tell me they can barely even tell (maybe they're just being polite).  People don't seem to believe that I am almost half way through this pregnancy (20 weeks next Wednesday).  I will take new pictures next week... maybe. 

15 Weeks

Nothing much to report from the last doctor visit.  We will find out the gender at the next visit in February.  I really haven't gained much weight and I can still fit into most of my normal clothes.  Some look better than others.  I am convinced people who don't know just think I ate too much for Christmas. 

I am having issues with finding baby things that don't make me cringe.  Most of the bedding out there is not at all us.  It may be a bit easier when I know what gender to narrow my focus on but until then I am searching the internet every weekend.

News

Herman's big announcement.

The official due date is July 10, 2013.  I am only 14 weeks currently.  There's not much to see.  We took some late night photos when I was at 12 weeks so they are not good.  There's a horrible shadow that makes it look like there is so much more there than there is.

Of course, the dog couldn't resist a photo bombing.  I think it's funny.  There really wasn't that much there at this time.  We would take some today but it's dark and overcast again.  Hard to take a photo.

My sister made some puppy feet (to resemble Hman's feet) booties.  I tried to take a picture of them both.  It was hard to get the dog to comply.

We go to the doctor this Monday.  Maybe more news then.  As of right now we do not know the gender but will find out.

Five years

We celebrated our five year anniversary yesterday. We started out at the arboretum, headed to Torchy's for lunch, the Saucer to waste time and then dinner at Three Forks. It was a wonderful day.   It was a day well needed after our horrible Thursday evening but that is another story for another time.

I made G take some pictures with me. We didn't have anyone to take the pictures which is why it's kind of a horrible shot. In another picture the dog walked into the frame but that is our life.  

Five years ago and today.

Christmas 2012

This was the third Christmas in our house and the second time G had gone crazy with lights. The very first Christmas we lived here we moved in ten days before Christmas. We just didn't have the time to go insane.

This year G made it even bigger and crazier. The Christmas tree was larger and he added even more lights. It's a sickness. :)

It did look awesome.







I love how it looks bright even in a picture. He has hope of synchronizing it to music next year. We will have to see. As it is, I was sitting on the sofa Christmas Eve and was seeing flashes of lights and it turned out people were taking pictures of the house. Someone also told us they used our house on their Christmas card. Weird.

In other news the school year is more than half over and I am ready for this.

Floor Remodel Update

What were we thinking with that ambitious floor remodel? SEVERAL months later we are still dealing with it. It took all summer for G to get the baseboards done but they look good.

He also put up split face around the fireplace. I was unsure about this tile color but I guess it's ok enough.

Here's the whole look decorated for Halloween. I did some Martha and made mice for the baseboards. I also made the wreath out of Halloween scrap fabric. Sorry, it's a iPhone photo.

G also put in fancy moldings in our dinning room we don't use.

After the baseboards went it, we had some guys out to caulk and paint them. We did a coat of pre-paint before he put them in but they needed more and I wasn't about to do it. Earlier this month we FINALLY got new carpet put in. It was all I wanted, to rid the house of the previous owners' toe nail clippings.

We are certainly glad to be almost done. We just need to touch up the paint from flying tile pieces and the guys installing the wood floor. Now we are looking forward to Christmas and decorating the front of the house again. As always, it will be over the top!
